Housing

At present housing consists of a single modest frame dwelling. The interior has been modified to better serve the needs of a community, but much remains to be done. In recent years we have completed a new kitchen, remodeled the dining room and have plans for other additions - most recently an addition to the kitchen has been added. After that will be better bathroom and laundry facilities. (It should be noted that we use composting toilets and gravity showers.) We are hopeful that soon we will be able to expand our housing to accommodate a larger number of residents, and eventually add additional housing so that we can more easily accommodate women in the community, since our neo-tribal model promotes separate quarters for men and women. (Note: Transgendered members will be housed according to physical sex.)

Although we seek to create housing that will be comfortable for all members, it is equally important the it remain simple and conducive to our spiritual lifestyle. There is an old Buddhist saying that exemplifies this: "Before enlightenment, chop wood, carry water. After enlightenment, chop wood, carry water."
